Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 10, 2026 · Applies to the OctoTalk iOS app
The short version: we don't collect any personal data. OctoTalk has no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. The only thing the app sends anywhere is anonymous usage statistics (like "a card was favorited") that cannot be tied to you — described in the Analytics section below. Everything else lives on your device.
Who we are
OctoTalk is made by OctoPanther LLC ("we," "us"), a North Dakota limited liability company. You can reach us at support@octopanther.com.
Information stored on your device
The app stores a small amount of information locally on your device so it can function:
- Your progress through the app's introduction and which sample pack you chose
- Cards you mark as favorites and cards you hide
- Basic app preferences
This information stays on your device, is never linked to your identity, and is deleted when you delete the app.
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details, name, address, or Apple ID. Apple provides the app with an anonymized receipt used solely to verify that your subscription is active. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Analytics
The app sends anonymous usage statistics to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, so we can understand which features and question packs people enjoy and improve the app. These events include things like which screens are opened, which cards are viewed, favorited, hidden, or shared (by card number — never anything you say or type), whether a free trial was started, and general device information such as device model, iOS version, app version, and language.
This data is anonymized before it reaches us: identifiers are irreversibly hashed, no names, emails, or account IDs exist in the app to begin with, and neither we nor TelemetryDeck can identify you from it. It is never used for advertising, never sold or shared with data brokers, and never combined with data from other companies. We do not track you across apps or websites. You can read more in TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.
And to be clear about what we don't collect: the app never records your conversations or answers. What happens at game night stays at game night.
Sharing cards
If you use the share feature, the app hands the card's text to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there (Messages, social apps, etc.) is controlled by you and the app you share to.
Children
The app is intended for users aged 17 and up due to mature themes in some question packs. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — the anonymous usage statistics described above contain no personal information at all.
Emails you send us
If you email support, we receive whatever you include in the message (such as your email address). We use it only to respond to you, and we don't add you to marketing lists or share it with anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and note the new effective date at the top of this page before the change takes effect.
